Thunderthursday - June 16

There was rumour of maybe going down to Spanish banks and playing some Volleyball, etc. in the evening. We'll smuggle some food & wine down there too. We'll call it Operation Spiked Condor. Does it peak interest?
Latest Update: Weather isn't looking promising for the event so we can move this to another day. Further, I forgot I have a family dinner thing tonight!! I can't make it out. A thousand apologies and one rupee.

Graduate Impersonator Extraordinaire Strikes!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Vancouver - Graduate Impersonator Extraordinaire, Mike Peragine, stormed the Simon Fraser Podium today receiving his Bachelor of Arts for Applied Sciences degree. Mike looked legit with his full regalia including his XXXL Grad Cap which covered his educated noggin. After shaking the chancelor's hand and that of the Master of Ceremonies, he was quoted as saying 'I can't believe I didn't get a special mention for the two full years it took them to find the pooh bag I bombed in the AQ mens bathroom...you cagacatzes.' The Bull at the Royal - NOT the Buffalo Club

I would like to retract a statement I made. My apologies, I made a bad, mentioning that we saw the Bull at the Buffalo Club....yeah, I screwed up. Sorry!!! The Bull is at the Royal, damnit. I will flog anyone who even thinks of saying that the Bull is that Buffalo Club in the future. They will feel my rath!! The Sith has nothing on me. To The Bull -- my bad!! I will come see you at the ROYAL, and never at the other establishment mentioned. Never, Never, Never.

My prescription of Fun Fun

Thursday was a blast...Godma, Whapang, and myself went to a 50s diner on Granville st. to start off for some dinner. They had individual juke boxes at each table, with an interesting roster of tunes. After we met the Operator and 'S' (no name Blog name yet!) and subsequently went bowling at the Commodore Bowling Alley on Granville Street. Competition was heaty as the funky Bowling shoes squeeked with the rolling thuds of bowling balls hitting the lane. There was great team atmosphere, nice soundtrack, high fives, and chuckles all the while. As Whapang put it after the odd gutter ball, " they're metaphors for life". Haha. Then we went over to say hi to the Bull at the Buffalo Club, and also met up with Doz and 'J'. After a pint, we headed down to Malone's in Kitsilano, where the Scientist was enjoying his formulas and cocktails at the Beach Party themed night. Oh yeah, there was some Ass on the Glass...humma humma. Bumped into an always chipper coworker, word L, as well as the infamous Scuba Steve. Two Thumbs up - Nice night everybody!! Godma, nice coordinaysh job...cheers

New Blog Concept...

As you might have noticed, I've tweeked the Blog, directing into a different direction. It's called the 'The Empire Pond' and it's open for posts and comments anytime, about anything. The topic will not be narrowed down to Thunder Thursday events anymore. Think of it as more of an archived Chat Room for all of us - the communal blog, The Empire Pond.

Who said "rock and roll is dead"?

I know a few of the thunderers aren't coming out tonight. However to the rest of you I extend an invitation to listen to some local music. Nikki Hurst, along with The Heck and Ten Ways From Sunday can be seen tonight at the Buffalo Club (1161 Granville Street) from the low, low price of $8... much cheaper than those money grubbers, U2. Doors open at 8:00pm and bands start at 9:00pm. Hope to see some of you there.

GodMa - Fantastic ThunderThursday Host!!

GodMa, thanks for the fantastic ThunderThursday event you organized. The food, liquids, entertainment and atmosphere, and of course, the gallery, were super. Loved lounging on the suede couches by the fire, gobbling sushi, sippin some Red Cap stubbies, chatting with everyone, as well as playing some Texas Holdem while on display for all to see at street level on Richards and Nelson. Thanks man, Good times!!

Thunder Thursday - March 31

There was Thunder! ...The night started at Hapa's on Robson, right after work with a former colleague. Man, did we eat! I like the place...has nice mood, service was great and very busy since they opened up. We had lotsa typical raw dishes....it was funny.

Then we went up the street to Zins, which was awesome chill. We sat on the lounge side, by the bar. The lounge has a nouveau retro look, in orange and red colors, and their seating was funky, as well as comfortable. Just before we left, the Scientist and T.Kelly had joined WaPang and myself for some Thunder Thursdaying.

Then down to the Crime Lab, close to Coal Harbour. It was busy! We squished by the bar, got some drinks and then got a table downstairs right by the bar. We had some chats and drinks, the Operator joined us, and the Scientist did his excellent Elevator impression when he was just outside our table window. It was fun fun.

What would a Thunder Thursday be without crunching 5 or 6 of us in the Operator's match box? That was some good chuckles, as we drove over to Bin 941. I had never been but it was quiant and funky. It had lots of mirrors and copper that made the room look really warm. We got seats in the back corridor, by the washrooms, where there is a sit down ledge with stools. I'm telling you, sitting in that area was great way to meet people! As people waited to go to the washrooms, we would entertain. It was fun.

Lesson Learned this TT: Don't put $5 on your credit card because the server will ask you if you are from out of town. You might go red.

Welcome to THUNDER THURSDAY - the BLOG

Thunder Thursdays started on the first Thursday of November, 2004 in Vancouver. It originated due to work schedules conflicting on the weekend and therefore having to appoint a mid week day as a 'Party Night' in Vancouver for those with the painful schedule. The Board of Directors have discussed keeping a record of the excellent Thunder Thursdays we have had and thus, dedicate this blog to Thunder Thursday highlights!

We focus on seeing new lounges, restaurants, and hotspots all around the city. The current 'Board of Directors' for Thunder Thursday are the GM - the God Mother, Wa Pang-The Dominatrix , Doz, The Operator, and the Commish...with special mentions to T.Kelly and the Bull.

...Hello? ....Happy Thunder Thursday, Buddy! ...awh shi*
